Frank Wilson aka “Lorenzo”, “The Lion King”, “The Lightening Lion Tamer” was my Great Grandfather. He was the subject of many stories when i was young from my Grandfather Reuben Wilson. Tales of the jeweled dagger that he had to kill his favorite Lioness with after being savagely attacked, and later found out that the lioness had an extreme abscess that had provoked the attack, he then took the claws and had them mounted on chains for his family to wear in remembrance.
Frank was first married to Ellen Sedgwick daughter of the Famous Menagerie owner William Charles Augustus Sedgwick where he was the Manager and Secretary for the Show.Unfortunately Ellen passed away in 1903 and frank then married Caroline Matthews. I believe he then pursued the a career on the Fairgrounds with a Cinamatograph and rides such a the Walkers set that was made for him in 1911 shortly before his death
